-The public health system will be free of charge, with zero co-payment for people in tranches C and D of Fonasa, benefiting more than 6 million people, and a Waiting List Resolution Plan will be implemented with an increase in productivity. Within the framework of the presentation of his first Public Account to the nation, President Gabriel Boric announced a structural reform to health through the presentation of a bill that will create a Universal Health Fund, which aims to generate greater equity in access to services, improve care, increase solidarity in the financing of the system and reduce household spending. Likewise, he informed about the free health care in the public health system, with a zero co-payment for people in the C and D brackets of Fonasa, benefiting more than 6 million people. “We have regressed a lot, particularly in waiting lists. The pandemic was a determining factor in this and people in the country who are waiting to resolve more than 330 thousand surgeries must wait an average of 602 days in the case of elective surgeries. These figures are not tolerable”, he stated. President Boric announced the implementation of a plan to resolve surgical waiting lists by increasing hospital productivity and integrating private providers, in addition to the implementation of 3 Regional Resolution Centers for major outpatient surgery in Coquimbo, Valparaíso and La Araucanía, reaching 7 centers by 2023. “At the end of our mandate we will ensure that all oncological surgery will be resolved within 90 days and all major risk surgery will be resolved within 6 months”, he said. Regarding mental health, the head of state said that it will be a priority for the government and informed that the construction of 12 Community Mental Health Centers will begin with an investment of $36 billion, starting this year with San Antonio and in 2023 with Antofagasta and Iquique. Additionally, the Children’s Mental Health Support Program will be strengthened, doubling its communes and extending coverage to 3 and 4 year olds. On the other hand, President Boric informed that the bill that establishes the right to Euthanasia will be urgently processed. Finally, in the area of gender diversity and dissidence, Boric announced the implementation of the Gender Identity Support Program in the 29 health services of the country, to eliminate barriers to access to health and ensure the welfare of children and adolescents.
